Song For Our Fraternity

The Essence

The below “song” plays in the larger context of our "fraternity" in order to convey the fateful event of our meeting in various parts of the world. “Yahee vo jagah hai......”   refers to this 'Earth’ where each one of you had met us. “Yahee who fizayen......” refers to those beautiful places and surroundings in your countries where you had first

met us and had promised us your loyalties while becoming a part of our “L’ile des nomads” fraternity, by making the ‘Pledge' .

The Lyrics

Stanza 1

“Yahee woh jagah hai yahee woh fizayen

yaheein par kabhee aap ham se mile the

Yahee woh jagah hai yahee woh fizayen

yaheein par kabhee aap ham se mile the

Inhe ham bhala kis tarah bhul jaayein

yaheein par kabhee aap ham se mile the”

This is the place these are the surroundings

this is the place where you had once met us

This is the place these are the surroundings

this is the place where you had once met us

How can we ever forget these surroundings

this is the place where you had once met us.

 Stanza 2

“Yahein par mera hath mei hath lea kar

kabhe naa bichadne kaa vaada kiya tha

Sada ke liye ho gaye hum tumhaare

gale se lagaa kar hame yeh kaha tha

Kabhee kam na honge hamari wafayein

yahee par kabhee aap ham se mile the”

Here you had taken our hand in yours

and had promised us never to be apart

I am now committed to you forever

you had embraced us and had said this

Your loyalties for us will never become less

this is the place where you had once met us

  Repeat..

“Yahee woh jagah hai yahee woh fizayen

yaheein par kabhee aap ham se mile the”

This is the place these are the surroundings

this is the place where you had once met us.

This song was written in 1966 by an Indian lyricist and song writer, ‘Shamsul Bihari’. Its background music was composed by ‘Omkar Prasad Nayyar’, a brilliant composer known for his flare for blending traditional Indian instruments with western musical rhythms and sounds. Its musical order was skillfully crafted by his friend ‘Sebastian D'Souza’ to evoke the emotion. The background musical instruments used include a combination of Indian and Western instruments viz. Santoor, Tabla, Chimes, Bass, Clarinet, Piano Keys and Violin. The song was sung by ‘Asha Bhonsle’, a renowned playback singer of the Indian Cinema Industry. She has sung in more than eighteen regional Indian languages and also in some foreign languages including Pakistani Urdu, English, Spanish and Russian. Her name  appears in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most recorded artist in music history.
